The Association for the Blind of WA – Guide Dogs WA has provided life changing services to Western Australians living with blindness and vision impairment for almost a century!
They provide direct, individualised and group-based services to more than 4,000 clients each year ranging from newborn babies to seniors and their families and carers.
The JWH Group has recently sponsored two puppies, Jewel and Walter for the Association for the Blind of WA. Being the sponsor of the Guide Dog puppies is a new initiative for the JWH Group.
‘We are so happy the JWH Group is the most recent addition to our Guide Dog Sponsor program. The best partnership is one that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts – we believe this to be true for all our corporate relations’ said Dr Margaret Crowley, Chief Executive Officer at the Association.
The JWH Group will follow the progress of Jewel and Walter over the next two years as they develop from playful puppies into amazing Guide Dogs. Walter is the black male Labrador and Jewel is the yellow female Labrador. Currently, they are living with their puppy raising families who are responsible for teaching them the basic ropes, from toilet training to walking correctly on a lead. Both puppies will attend puppy classes each week where they will develop their skills.
‘There are few things that can change someone’s life as profoundly as a Guide Dog. Sponsoring a Guide Dog can open a whole new world of opportunity for people who are blind or vision impaired.’ said Dr Crowley.
The support that the JWH Group has given enables the Association of the Blind to provide Guide Dogs to people who are blind or vision impaired, opening up a whole new world of independence.
